Handling of Personal Information

Introduction

Canon Mold Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as the "Company") recognizes the importance of protecting personal information in societies with a high degree of information communications such as ours, and considers it an important social responsibility to safely and appropriately deal with the personal information of every person who applies for employment with the Company.

The Company has established a personal information protection management system and implements, maintains and improves that system based on such guidelines as our privacy policy. The Company handles personal information as stated below and strives to protect such information.

Disclosure of the Purpose of Use of Personal Information and Handling

(1) Disclosure of the Purpose of Use of Personal Information

In conjunction with business activities (development, design, manufacturing, service of molds for plastic parts, manufacturing of precision parts or other operations), the Company may use personal information within the scope of the following purposes.

  1. Personal information of customers
    ・To provide customers with support for products and services
  2. Personal information of suppliers or contractors
    ・To purchase materials, and to procure parts and molds
  3. Personal information of persons seeking employment with the Company
    ・To contact the person to provide information on recruitment
    ・To manage recruitment processes at the Company
  4. Personal information provided to the Company at the time of enquiry
    ・To handle the enquiry
  5. Personal information of employees (including executive officers, regular employees and temporary staff)
    ・To perform employment management

When requesting personal information, the Company strives to disclose the purpose of use and obtain personal information with the consent of the individual concerned. However, explicit disclosure of the purpose of use may be omitted when the purpose of use is readily apparent based on the circumstances in which the personal information is provided, such as when business cards are exchanged as a business practice or when a request for delivery of company information by telephone is received from a customer.

The Company will use the personal information provided by a person within the scope of the purposes indicated above, and will not use it for any other purposes without the consent of the person concerned. The Company may share this personal information with other parties if necessary.

(2) Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

The Company will not disclose the personal information to any third parties except under the following circumstances.

  • When there is consent from the person concerned
  • In cases where it is necessary for the protection of human life, body or wealth, and it is difficult to obtain consent from the person concerned
  • When personal information is supplied to the Company's subcontractor within the scope necessary to achieve the purpose of use
  • When the disclosure of personal information is required by law or regulations
  • When business succession takes place due to merger, company split, business transfer or other reasons

(3) Shared Use of Personal Information

The Company may use the personal information provided in conjunction with other group companies.

(4) Secure Handling of Personal Information

In order to prevent unauthorized access, loss, destruction, tampering, leakage, or other damage to personal information, the Company establishes a management system for protecting personal information, and takes physical and technical safety control measures.

(5) Enquiries about Personal Information

When requesting personal information, the Company will provide information on the personnel responsible for managing said personal information. When a person who provided their personal information to the Company wishes to make requests regarding said information—such as disclosure, notification of purpose of use, correction, addition and deletion—please contact personnel designated by the Company. Once the Company confirms that the request is from the person in question, it will respond to the request within a reasonable period of time.

(6) Personal Information of Persons of Less Than 15 Years

For persons less than 15 years of age, a parent or guardian will be contacted and asked to provide an informed consent for the provision of personal information.

(7) Optional Provision of Personal Information

Since personal information belongs to the person to whom it pertains, the provision of this information is optional. If a person does not wish to provide personal information, they can refuse to do so at their discretion. In that case, the Company may not be able to achieve the purpose of use disclosed.

Handling of Personal Information on Company-operated Websites

(1) Preventing Interception by Third Parties during Communication

When a person enters personal information on websites operated by the Company, the Company makes efforts to ensure safety by encrypting that information using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) or other similar security technology to prevent unauthorized access by third parties during communication.

(2) Cookies and Web Beacons

When a user visits the website of the Company, cookies are created and saved on the user's computer, making it more convenient for the user to visit the website again. Please note that a cookie is data used to identify the computer, not the user.
Although a user can refuse to accept cookies by changing their Internet browser settings, please be aware that this may cause the website to function incorrectly. A web beacon, which usually works in conjunction with cookies, is a technology that collects information on visits to a website and computes statistics on how users browse specific web pages. The website operated by the Company does not use web beacons.

(3) Protection of Personal Information on Linked Websites

The Company does not assume responsibility for ensuring the security of personal information on any third-party websites linked from the Company's website (hereinafter referred to as "linked websites"). Persons are required to read and understand the privacy policy associated with said linked websites in order to protect their personal information.

Miscellaneous

(1) Compliance with Related Laws and Regulations, and Other Rules

The Company will comply with laws and regulations concerning the protection of personal information, related guidelines established by the Japanese government, and other applicable rules.

(2) Changes to the "Handling of Personal Information by Canon Mold Co., Ltd."

The Company may make updates to its "Handling of Personal Information by Canon Mold Co., Ltd." guidelines according to changes in laws and regulations concerning the protection of personal information, related guidelines established by the Japanese government, and other applicable rules.
